DESCRIPTION

Your friendly and professional guide will meet you at the Alexander column in the middle of the Palace Square. After a brief introduction on the main square of St. Petersburg we will make our way to the celebrated Hermitage. This glorious building used to be an official Royal residence until 1917, and was converted into a museum soon after. Today the museum numbers over 3 million exhibits, which makes it one of the largest in the world. Our well-planned route will allow you to see the best masterpieces and highlights of the Hermitage collection.

Prepare to be amazed as you climb the magnificent Ambassador’s staircase that showcases the scale of the following interiors. Explore the Staterooms of the Winter Palace, including the Pavilion Hall, Italian Skylights, the Throne Hall and many others. Admire the Peacock clock, a 250-years-old multi-figured automaton clock, look at the sculptures and flower carpets of the Hanging Garden and enjoy the artwork of Russian craftsmen who managed to create a replica of the Vatican Loggia designed by Raphael. Navigate the spectacular galleries and explore the art works of Leonardo Da Vinci, Raphael and Rembrandt. Your guide will tell you the most fascinating legends and stories about the Russian royals, the fire of 1837, art sales in the Soviet times, unique artworks beyond regular museum routes, and many more… And if you feel like exploring on your own after the end of the tour, you are welcome!
